RECIPE: Greek Meatballs with Tzatziki Sauce (Keftedes)

Welcome the inviting flavors of the Mediterranean into your home with this popular Greek appetizer – keftedes. Starring the robust, herby flavor of McCormick® Greek Seasoning, these Greek meatballs can be enjoyed as a light bite or served with Tzatziki, sliced fresh vegetables, and toasted pita for a complete meal.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

For the Tzatziki, grate 1 medium seedless cucumber, squeezing to drain any excess liquid (should be about 1 cup). Mix cucumber, 1 cup plain Greek yogurt, 4 teaspoons McCormick® Greek Seasoning, 1 tablespoon each olive oil and lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon salt in medium bowl. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. For the Keftedes, line shallow baking pan with foil and spray with no-stick cooking spray. Set aside. Mix 1 pound ground beef, 1/2 pound ground pork or lamb, 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs, 2 tablespoons Greek Seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1 large egg in large bowl just until well blended. Form into 1-inch meatballs. Arrange meatballs on prepared pan. Bake in preheated 350°F oven for 18 to 20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F). Serve with Tzatziki, sliced fresh vegetables and toasted pita, if desired. Makes 8 servings.
